STATE OF HAWAIʻI ORGANIZATION OF POLICE OFFICERS (SHOPO) ENDORSES JACOB AKI IN HONOLULU CITY COUNCIL – DISTRICT VII RACE
(Honolulu, HI) – The State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers (SHOPO) has unanimously endorsed Jacob Aki in the Honolulu City Council – District VII race to replace term-limited councilmember Joey Manahan. This is the first major endorsement for Aki, who has been running for the council seat since April 2019.
“We’re proud to endorse Jacob because we know that he will be a real champion for public safety and law enforcement on Oʻahu,” said SHOPO President Malcolm F. Lutu. “He has a demonstrated history of experience and leadership in the community and we believe he is the right person to represent the people of Council District VII.”
“I’m very proud to have the endorsement of SHOPO and the support of their nearly 2,000 members on Oʻahu,” said Aki. “Rain or shine, these men and women patrol our neighborhoods every day to keep our families and communities safe. As a member of the City Council, I look forward to working with them to ensure that they have the necessary resources and support to effectively carry out their duties.”
Founded in 1972, SHOPO represents over 2,500 police officers statewide from Maui County, Kauaʻi, Hawai‘i County, and Honolulu. For more information, visit https://shopohawaii.org/.
